Wolfgang Mozart and Constanze Weber
After his dismissal and the sacking of Mozart in Salzburg in 1781, he moves in with the Weber family, who has moved from Munich to Vienna. Mozart’s first love Aloysia has married in the meantime. But her younger sister Constanze catches Mozarts attention, they fall in love and get engaged. Father Leopold opposes this engagement.
Nevertheless, Mozart and Constance get married in Vienna’s St.Stephans Cathedral on August 4, 1782 - with the last minute approval of Leopold.
Constanze gives birth to six children, only two survive childhood – Carl Thomas (1784-1858) and Franz Xaver Wolfgang (1791-1844).
Constanze outlasts Mozart by 50 years. 18 years after Mozart’s death she marries G. N. Nissen. Together, they publish the first biography on Mozart in 1828. Mozart’s inheritance leaves Constanze a wealthy woman.
