Restart in Vienna

Mozart’s decision to become an independent artist in Vienna prooves to be a good one. Mozart is commissioned to compose “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” (KV 384), which turns out to be a great success. It leads to other jobs, concerts and students to teach. Mozart earns considerably much money, but also gears up his lifestyle accordingly.

Mozart ist the star of the Viennese salons and his academy at the Burgtheater, Viennas main theater, make him a well known musician. With all these activities, Mozart gains a lot of valuable contacts. Only the Austrian emperor and his court doesn’t show much interest in Mozart. Eventhough he sponsors Mozart, he never offers to employ him.

Mozart’s way of life goes hand in hand with his rising income. With his family, he moves into an expensive flat in the center and has employes to assist his wife with the houshold. Even father Leopold has to acknowledge Mozarts wellbeing and is content with the success of his son.
