Child prodigy on tour
Mozart goes Europe
In June of 1763, the whole family goes on tour. First they touch base in Munich and Augsburg, just to continue to Frankfurt and Brussels. Finally, they arrive in Paris. Many concerts in the various German aristocratic courts mark their path.
Paris turns out to be a success, which leads father Leopold to print some of his son’s compositions. Now a "real" composer, eight-year-old Mozart and his family continue their travel to England, where they arrive in spring 1764.
Mozart meets J. C. Bach, whose work influences Mozart a great deal later on. In London, Mozart experiences a whole different world of music, which not only concentrates on royalties, but also takes place around common people.
1765 the family decides to return home. Again, they stop for concerts in France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. They set foot in Salzburg in November 1766. Both children get severely ill after moving on to Vienna in 1767.
Even though Vienna opens some of its doors to young Mozart, but it’s not what his father had hoped for, so they return to Salzburg. Mozart takes up the position as concertmaster of the court musicians of the Archbishop in 1769.
